Course curriculum
Module 1: Roof anatomy, measurement, and material takeoff
Learn the vocabulary that lets you read a roof: pitch, squares, rakes, eaves, valleys, hips.
Module 2: Safety and jobsite setup
Falls are the #1 killer in this trade, and OSHA fines start around $16k per violation.
Module 3: Tear-off and deck repair
Covers tear-off tooling and technique by layer count, magnetic nail sweeps, and dumpster/trailer loading strategy.
Module 4: Underlayment, flashing, and drip edge
The water-management layer is where quality roofers separate from the rest.
Module 5: Shingle installation: field, valleys, and ridges
Nail placement is the whole game: four or six nails, in the nail zone, flush not overdriven.
Module 6: Penetrations, ventilation, and final inspection
Most leaks happen at penetrations and most shingle failures trace to bad ventilation.
