The construction-side deep dive: structures, steel, plumbing systems, shotcrete/gunite, and finishes for inground pool builds.
Who this course is for
Pool-build crew members, installers moving from fiberglass to gunite, and project managers who need to supervise builds credibly.
What you’ll be able to do
- Read pool construction drawings and engineering specs
- Understand layout, excavation, and steel (rebar) schedules
- Follow gunite/shotcrete placement and curing standards
- Install complete pool plumbing and equipment systems
- Manage tile, coping, decking, and interior finish sequencing
Course curriculum
Module 1: Construction drawings, engineering, and layout
Gunite pools are engineered structures.
Module 2: Excavation and steel (rebar) installation
Covers dig sequencing to engineered over-dig, hand-trim to final shape, and plumbing sleeve placement.
Module 3: Plumbing systems: hydraulics that actually work
Pool plumbing is a hydraulic system, not just pipe.
Module 4: Gunite/shotcrete day: placement, shaping, and curing
The highest-stakes day of the build.
Module 5: Tile, coping, and decking
Waterline tile and coping set the visual quality bar for the whole project.
Module 6: Interior finish, startup, and punch-out
Covers plaster/pebble/quartz finish prep and what the finish crew needs from you, fill protocol (no stopping, hose sock, no swimming the fill), and the critical 28-day startup chemistry sequence that protects the finish warranty.
